Our MissionBodyMindSpiritHealth.org is a web site created for promoting the scientific work of holistic health. It lists the services of the Center for BodyMindSpirit Health and posts research activities related to holistic health care usage and mind-body-spirit relationship. It is non-profit website. The information you give us on the research questionnaires will be held confidential and no names or other identifiable information about you would be mentioned in our final reports. Several research projects are linked below. Please click them if you are interested in participating. Some of the projects require a password in order for us to screen for a specific sample or to protect the copyright of the survey owners. If you do not have a required password, please write to dso@howard.edu, stating your interest in participating in which studies and how you fit into our the sample inclusion criteria. Our Research ProjectsThe Healthy Lifestyle Project (password protected; write to dso@howard.edu) The goal of our study is to help us understand the use of different health care alternatives. By participating in this study, you can help the scientific community understand more about alternative health care practices. Our results will have implications for health care development. The benefit is far beyond the time you will need for this study. We do not expect any adverse effects in our participants. We ask you to take part in a 30-minute survey online. The Healthy CyberSpace Project The goal of this project is to understand the role of optimism and healthy lifestyles in the process of stress reduction. We want to better understand how hopeful people and those who lead healthy lifestyles can deal effectively with stress. Specifically, I am asking you to assist in our effort by completing 5 short surveys. All questionnaires will take about an hour to complete. The questionnaires are designed to tap various kinds of information including participant’s level of optimism, healthy lifestyle choice, spirituality, and attitudes for seeking professional help. Organization ProfileWe are a small, multi-cultural group of doctoral-level researchers and students who are college-level professors, and/or members/affliates of American Psychological Association and American Public Health Association. Our research program focuses on mind-body-spirit issues, health practices, and individual factors for help-seeking behaviors, outcomes, and personal growth domains. Being a non-profit group, we strive to use our research and consultation services to improve human well-being in a holistic manner. As we continue to grow, we will update this profile section.
